A
Summer of Fun and Preparation for Future Success
by
Frank Welte
Our second annual SMCCB Twin Pines Picnic in the Park will
be on Saturday, August 3 from noon to 4:00 PM at Twin Pines Park on Ralston
Avenue in Belmont, just a block west of El Camino Real and the Belmont Caltrain
station. Bring your family, your
friends, and a healthy appetite. We request a donation of $5 per person to
defray a part of our costs. Also, we are gathering items to be given away
as prizes during the Bingo games at the picnic. So let us know if you have
an item to donate. There will
be large print and Braille Bingo cards. RSVP and direct other picnic inquiries
to Phil Kutner at (650) 349-6946. Our next business meeting will be September
7.
Our June speaker, Teresa Postelo, was a real treat. She
is a teacher of visually impaired children with the San Mateo County Schools.
Her talk was most informative. We look forward to partnering with her
in preparing the next generation of blind leaders for their future pursuits.
During our meeting we made plans for our tenth anniversary
banquet on Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2002 at the Villa Hotel in Belmont.
Watch this Bulletin for further details.
Finally, you can help SMCCB move forward. As you meet other blind people, tell them
about us and of our activities. Pass
their contact information to Phil Kutner or me, so we can contact them. Call
me at 508-8329 or send e-mail to: [email protected]
2nd Annual
Picnic in the Pines at Twin Pines Park in Belmont
Saturday
August 3, Noon-4 pm
Last year’s first picnic is one we fondly
remember. Dave & Jeannie prepared great food, and there were many prize-winners
while playing Bingo. Again we shall have large print as well as Braille cards.
Our full menu of picnic delights included an array
of meats, salads, beverages & desserts. The location is the first grove
next to the parking lot, so there is only a few
feet to walk if you come by car or Redi-Wheels. The Belmont CalTrain station
and SamTrans stop near the corner of Ralston and El Camino Real only 2 short
blocks to Twin Pines Park. Call Frank if you need more details.
The area is well shaded and the rest rooms are nearby.
It is an ideal location for a picnic. Send $5 a person to: Phil Kutner 1128
